Buying from the Studio

Buying from Kate Morris Studio is a considered alternative to high-street or mass-produced furniture. Each piece is approached with care, intention, and respect for materials—whether you are purchasing a one-of-a-kind chair from the shop or commissioning upholstery work.

Studio-Made, Not Mass-Produced

All upholstered furniture is made individually in our studio. Pieces are not produced in batches, and no two are ever exactly the same. Variations in pattern placement, texture, and finish are part of the character of studio-made work and should be expected.

One-of-a-Kind Pieces

Our online shop features a small number of one-of-a-kind upholstered chairs. These pieces are designed and made as complete works and are sold as seen. Due to their unique nature, one-of-a-kind upholstered furniture is non-returnable. We encourage customers to review all measurements, descriptions, and images carefully before purchasing.

Commissioned Upholstery

For clients looking to reupholster an existing piece or commission new work, we offer a collaborative, design-led process. Each commission is quoted individually and scheduled to allow the time and attention the work requires. Further details can be found on our Commission Process page.

Materials and Measurements

We take care to describe materials, finishes, and dimensions accurately. As upholstered furniture is tactile and three-dimensional, we recommend carefully checking measurements and considering scale within your space before purchasing. If you have any questions, we're always happy to help before you place an order.

Delivery and Collection

Delivery or collection arrangements are discussed at the point of purchase. Larger upholstered pieces may require specialist courier services, which will be quoted separately where applicable. We will always confirm logistics in advance to ensure a smooth handover.

A Considered Purchase

Buying from the studio is an investment in design, craftsmanship, and longevity. Our pieces are made to be lived with and enjoyed over time, not treated as temporary or disposable objects.
