Kate Morris Studio offers a considered upholstery and soft furnishings service, working with both antique and contemporary furniture. Each commission is approached as a collaboration — balancing craftsmanship, fabric and design to create work that feels both functional and quietly expressive.

Upholstery Commissions

I work on a wide range of upholstered furniture, from small domestic pieces through to larger statement items. Commissions may involve full re-upholstery, partial re-covering or careful restoration, depending on the needs of the piece.

Upholstery services include re-upholstery for chairs, seating and small furniture pieces, working with both client-supplied and studio-recommended fabrics.

Furniture I commonly work on includes:

• Armchairs and accent chairs
• Occasional chairs and slipper chairs
• Dining chairs
• Chaise longues and daybeds
• Footstools and ottomans
• Benches and window seats

Whether a piece is sentimental, inherited, well-loved or newly sourced, my aim is to respect its original character while giving it a new life that suits your space today.

Design-Led Approach

Every project begins with understanding how a piece will be used and where it will sit in your home or interior space. Comfort, proportion, fabric choice and finish are all carefully considered.

I'm happy to work with:

• Studio-recommended fabrics
• One-off or limited-run textiles
• Subtle trims and thoughtful detailing

Clear, honest guidance is offered throughout — particularly where fabric suitability, durability or scale may affect the finished piece.

Made-to-Measure Soft Furnishings

Alongside upholstery, I create made-to-measure soft furnishings, including Roman blinds, curtains and bespoke cushions, designed to sit naturally alongside your interiors.

Services include:

• Made-to-measure Roman blinds
• Curtains and drapery
• Bespoke cushions
• Upholstered panels and window seats

Each piece is made with the same attention to detail as my upholstery work, ensuring a consistent feel across your space. Examples of previous soft furnishing projects can be found within the Portfolio.

Bespoke & Studio-Made Pieces

In addition to client commissions, I design and make a small number of bespoke pieces within the studio, including:

• Footstools
• Cushions
• Lampshades

These may be made to commission or available as one-off pieces through the shop, often using carefully selected or reclaimed fabrics.
