BERGERE CHAIR
This pair of bergère chairs were spotted at my customer’s home while I was there measuring for a different piece.
They had seen better days — the wood was scuffed and marked, the seat bases were broken, and my customer was considering selling or discarding them. I suggested restoring them instead, and the decision was made to bring them back to life. All the woodwork was carefully cleaned and waxed, restoring depth, warmth and highlighting its natural character. The broken chair bases were rebuilt and new feather-filled seat cushions were created for improved comfort and support. A beautiful printed linen from Lee Jofa was selected and the result is a pair of chairs my customer now intends to keep and enjoy for many years to come.
Work carried out:
– Assessment and restoration recommendation
– Wood cleaned and waxed
– Chair bases rebuilt and upholstered
– New feather-filled seat cushions
– New cushion covers in Lee Jofa linen
Fabric used: Lee Jofa - Haven Handblock in Moss.
This was a customer commission. If you have a chair or piece of furniture you’d like restored or reupholstered, I’d love to discuss your project. Please get in touch to talk through options and fabrics.
